PDP’s only legacy is corruption – Igbokwe

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has berated the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for saying the APC had reversed its accomplishments in its 16-year rule.
Joe Igbokwe
South-West leaders of the PDP had on Wednesday in Akure said the ruling APC had not demonstrated the capacity to resolve the economic challenges facing the country.
Reacting to this claim on Thursday, Igbokwe said the legacies the PDP left were corruption and poverty.
He said, “We wonder what legacy a failed and corrupt party like the PDP is talking about if not the legacy of corruption, shameless looting, infrastructural wreckage, ineptitude, decay, disease, hunger and want.
“If a ruined economy and infrastructure collapse were the reversed legacies of the PDP, then it is good riddance. One question that Nigerians have been asking is if anything good can ever come from a PDP that in its 16 whole years of rule, notoriously looted the country’s treasury and left every sector of the Nigerian economy bare.
“If in 16 years and with oil averaging over $100 per barrel, the PDP presided over the total ruination and bankruptcy of the country, we have no doubt that its legacies are only the negative fallouts of its corrupt acts which brought Nigeria to its knees.”
“When it talks of legacies and accomplishments, there is no doubt that the PDP wants to take Nigeria back to the sad years of free looting, stealing, overwhelming insecurity, total darkness, wrecked refineries, bad roads, industrial death, voracious unemployment, mass hunger and deprivation. We know that the legacy and accomplishment which PDP is celebrating so badly is that of stealing every resources available to the country but we want to let them know that never again will Nigeria revert to their rapacious tendencies which hobbled the country as they lasted. That the present APC government has totally stopped official looting, set credible steps towards an immediate recovery of the country’s bankrupt infrastructures, tackle unemployment and other ills, decisively dealt with security challenges, brought Nigeria to the zenith of international politics and secured needed international credits and support to deal with the many problems the PDP created in sixteen whole years of misrule and bad governance, shows that we are gradually over the horror of PDP’s deliberate mismanagement while in power.”
“We challenge the PDP to list its woeful legacies that led to its total rejection by Nigerians last year. We have no doubt that the PDP is suffering terribly from the aftershock of defeat and in its naïvety, has refused to come clean with Nigerians and offer Nigerians a well deserved apology for its misdeeds in power. The PDP still relishes on playing the ostrich with the damages it wrought in the country and Nigerians will only further the present critical state of the PDP which faces clear danger of extinction by its misconducts in power.
“We urge what remains of PDP in Nigeria to devote what remains of their time in serious soul searching and atone to Nigerians by the calamities it visited on Nigerians during its unfortunate years in power instead of playing the ostrich. Nigerians know where the rain started beating them. We will not mince words to tell the PDP that its salvation lies in stridently begging Nigerians for forgiveness and not in continued assault of the intelligence of Nigerians by its false posturing''
